Global African Situated Practices Open Call

Global African Situated Practices, is an international artistic residency hosted by the Institute for Postnatural Studies in Madrid, Spain. With LuCAC as appointed expert jury.

This 6-week residency running from *Oct 15 – Nov 30, 2025* invites one artist, researcher, or cultural practitioner based in any of the 54 African countries 🌍 to develop work at the intersection of art, ecology, and research.

GASP is both an acronym and a metaphor—a gasp for breath and a gasp of astonishment—in response to the ecological crises shaping our world. 🌱🌪️🔥 The residency asks, What lessons about climatic survival may we derive from the territories we participate in? And with that, HOW MAY THE WORLD BREATHE AGAIN?

🗓️ Applications are open from 22 April to 31 May 2025

💶 Artist Grant: 3,000 EUR honorarium + an additional joint fund of 2,000 EUR for travel and production.
While in Madrid the residency includes: lodging, studio space, mentorship, site visits to institutions, and public programming.

The Institute is able to issue an invitation letter for visa application purposes.

🌐 Apply in English | Spanish | French | Portuguese (plus reflect projects in local languages in the portfolio section)
