Comprised of an art gallery, a library, and a residency, LuCAC is a place for continued decolonization, encouraging both targeted formal and informal artistic research and experimentation that seek to challenge the dominant “colonized” narratives.   We are dedicated to advancing Zambian contemporary Art’s place in the world and its role in Nation development

Your responsibilities to the people of Lusaka and beyond will include:

  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of education and outreach programs and events

Artist Residency Coordinator Intern

Join the Artistic Revolution at the Lusaka Contemporary Art Centre

We are seeking a Paid Intern as a Residency Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of artist residencies and all related public programs and events, including but not limited to talks, workshops, and film screenings. 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating, alongside the Artistic Director, a series of talks, workshops, film screenings, seminars, and other types of public and educational events that will form the backbone of LuCAC’s Artist Residency Programme
  • Develop and contribute to other public programming activities in collaboration
  • Coordinate Artists in Residence selection process
  • Communicate, when necessary, with resident artists, actively seeking feedback from them
  • Schedule critiques and open studios with regional and international art professionals for the resident artists
  • Introduce and facilitate access to scholars, research canters, and other places of interest for the resident artists.
  • Program the stay for residents, arrange travel and provide on-site support and access to materials, resources, etc.

Key Qualifications:

  • Two years in cultural or general management
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and artists
  • Demonstrated creativity in developing programs that engage a broad public
  • Editorial skills, including copy editing and photo editing
  • Familiarity with assisting practitioners with their needs in different fields
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with database systems
